An evening of captivating carnivores

the Lone Tree Arts Center Guild and the Wild Animal Sanctuary
The Lone Tree Arts Center Guild (LTACG) is hosting a fascinating and educational evening with Pat Craig, founder of The Wild Animal Sanctuary (TWAS) in Keenesburg, Colorado. The event is April 21 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Lone Tree Arts Center and refreshments will be served.
Originally started on Craig’s family farm outside of Boulder, Craig will discuss how and why he founded the sanctuary and the captive wildlife crisis in the United States. He will also explain the recent rescue of 25 Bolivian circus lions in collaboration with Animal Defenders International.
The Wild Animal Sanctuary is a state and federally licensed zoological facility and the oldest and largest nonprofit sanctuary in the U.S. dedicated exclusively to rescuing captive exotic and endangered large carnivores and providing a safe and humane area for them to roam for the rest of their lives. It also strives to provide educational programs and raise social consciousness to solve the problem of the estimated 30,000 captive large carnivores living outside the zoo system in the U.S.
Over the years the sanctuary has relocated, but it currently is a 720-acre site in Keenesburg on rolling rural grasslands, sheltering lions, tigers, bears, leopards, mountain lions, wolves and other large carnivores that have been rescued due to abuse, abandonment, illegal possession or intolerable conditions.
