Mollie Uhl Eaton is as vibrant as the paintings she creates. Through the end of March, Mollie’s abstract works can be seen at the Tesoro Artisan Gallery in Denver, which features local artists on a rotating basis. The Tesoro Gallery is host to Uhl Eaton’s second visually-stimulating art show and boasts 15 new works, not to be missed.
After graduating CU with a bachelor of fine arts degree, Uhl Eaton pursued a successful career as a photojournalist. Then, she decided to turn her creative energy towards fine arts and studied abstract painting at the La Veta School of the Arts in historic La Veta, Colorado where she became addicted to the style. “I do it because I cannot not do it,” said Uhl Eaton, who added, “It’s spiritual for me.”
Uhl Eaton’s disciplined approach to art moves her to create sophisticated, passionate works that sometimes have no explanation or story but simply convey beauty and truth.
With titles such as “Midnight Rhapsody,” “Emerald Sea,” and “Serendipity,” Uhl Eaton ties her love of the piano and music to her paintings. While her paintings may appear spontaneous, ironically, her approach is very methodical and well-thought out.
Uhl Eaton paints in her home studio regularly. At various stages of the painting process, she sits back, looks at the work, and waits for the painting to speak to her - either telling her what is next or letting her know it is completed.
Once a painting is finished, Uhl Eaton lovingly stretches, varnishes (for sun protection) and hand frames each canvas. “I want everyone to feel the energy; enjoy the abstraction; especially awaken to being alive here and now while looking at my colorful paintings,” explained Uhl Eaton.
Uhl Eaton’s paintings are also on display at Dr. Rudiak’s Canyon Ridge Chiropractic office in Castle Pines. Feel free to stop in and browse her thought-provoking work; no appointment is necessary. You can also follow Uhl Eaton on Twitter (@mollieuhleaton) or on Pinterest (Mollie Uhl Eaton).
