In keeping with a long-standing tradition, employees at Big O Tires in Castle Pines took some time away from the shop to help spread happiness to sick children being treated at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
As in years past, they participated in the Alice 105.9 “36 Hours for Kids” radiothon – a three-day drive to raise money for the hospital.
As part of the event, employees manned the phone banks for a two-hour shift, and then distributed “Little O” dolls to patients. A life size Little O was also on hand to visit patients, guided by store manager Robyn McElroy.
“Little O doesn’t see very well and he can’t talk, so I got to be his guide,” said McElroy. “It is both heart wrenching and heart warming all at the same time. We have been a part of this event for many years now and we have so much fun,” said McElroy.
The event raised more than $1.8 million for Children’s Hospital.
