DCS Montessori celebrates with fun at annual Fall Festival
DCS Montessori students show they can-can work together and have fun!

Fall is a great time to celebrate and at DCS Montessori School (DCSM), they do it in style. For years now, it’s been a school tradition for students and their families to enjoy a carnival-type party to welcome the changing of the seasons and give the community a venue to enjoy each other’s company.
“We had more than 1,000 people attend this year,” said Aimee Goodrich, a DCSM parent who co-chaired the event this year for the second year in a row. “We do fundraising events, but the Fall Festival is more of a thank you to the community. We had a great turnout though, so we did end up with a net profit of $10,000.”
The festival featured food from Parry’s Pizza, Las Fajitas and Kona Ice. Activities ranged from human hamster balls to a dunk tank to the Castle Rock K-9 unit, and HawkQuest and Richard Nakata Magic provided entertainment.
There was a certain sense of nostalgia about the event, which gave students a chance to win prizes at a duck pond, participate in a cake walk, a pie eating contest and a chili cook off. Eighth grader Hannah Howell took home top honors for her chili for the second year in a row.
“When I started planning this event last year, I tried to have the kinds of activities that I remember from carnivals in my own childhood,” said Goodrich. “I love seeing the fall festival come together and I love that the kids have fun.”
Off to the races they go; all in good fun and fundraising.
