DCS Montessori runs for funds

Students, faculty and staff at DCS Montessori School (DCSM) –
roughly 550 participants in total – turned out in force last month to
raise money to support the school at the Fourth Annual Fun Run. The
event featured a school-wide lap run for students from preschool through
eighth grade, and was a day of school spirit and celebration. Crazy
costumes, hairstyles, and beads created an atmosphere of excitement, and
age-group winners were honored as part of the race.
“I love the day of the event,” said Danielle Nairns, a board member
of the Montessori Educational Foundation (DCSM’s parent-teacher
organization) and an organizer for the event. “This is a great
tradition and now that we’re in our fourth year of doing it, we feel
like we know how to make it a success.”
Funds raised will be used in a variety of ways around the school,
including upgrading technology at the school. Long-term plans at the
school also include construction of a greenhouse and a “make shop” for
students to participate in hands-on learning.
