Free entrance to state parks to celebrate Colorado Day

By Patte Smith

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) joins the celebration of Colorado’s acceptance into statehood with free access to all Colorado State Parks on Monday, August 4. (Colorado Day is a state observance on August 1.) Park entrance fees are waived, but activities like fishing and camping will still require a valid license or permit.

Colorado was first recognized as a state on August 1, 1876. The first Colorado state park emerged some eighty years later. Celebrate the statehood of Colorado at one of the 42 beautiful state parks or 300 state wildlife areas.

Leftover hunting licenses go on sale

All leftover licenses for the 2014 hunting season go on sale Tuesday, August 5 at 9 a.m. in all CPW offices and online. This is the first time all big game licenses are for sale at the same time.

The number of licenses available depends upon how many licenses remain after the draws for a particular hunt code. A list of available hunt codes is slated to be published on July 29 at cpw.state.co.us.

For more information, contact your local CPW office or call 303-297-1192.
