Buffalo Ridge Elementary School (BRE) is doing something special to spread the love on Valentine’s Day. BRE’s Dream Team is selling heart shaped suckers for Valentine’s Day.  The sucker sales have been a tradition at BRE for about seven years.

One purpose of the sucker sales is for the Dream Team to raise money for different charities. This year, the money is going to the Learning Commons in the school’s library. Another purpose of the sucker sales is to promote friendship at BRE.

The suckers cost $0.50 each and will be available for sale at school the week of February 3 – 7, during all lunch recesses. “I’m excited to be able to sell suckers this year and pass on the friendship that comes with them,” said Ava S., a Dream Team member. The Dream Team hopes to sell around 300 suckers.

The sucker sales are a great way to show people you care while giving money to a worthy cause.  Giving the suckers allows students to feel special and like they are doing something important all at the same time.  “I think the sucker sales are special and show how much we all care about one another,” said Ava.

Students may buy suckers for friends, siblings, teachers, book buddies, and more. There will be an order form in Friday folders on January 31, so parents can buy them, too.

To learn more, visit schools.dcsdk12.org/bre. Dream Team members will deliver the suckers on Thursday, February 13.
