“Locally grown” Furry Scurry is May 3

By Elean Gersack

The Dumb Friends League is touting this year’s Furry Scurry as “locally grown.” That’s because it has grown from local support to be the single largest dog walk across the country. Nearly 12,000 people and 5,000 four-legged friends take part in this annual tradition to support homeless animals. This year’s event is set for Saturday, May 3 at 9 a.m. at Washington Park in Denver.

“The Furry Scurry wouldn’t be what it is today without such compassionate local support,” said Bob Rohde, president and CEO of the Dumb Friends League. “To see so many people come together in celebration of the human-animal bond and in support of homeless pets, is overwhelming and inspiring.”

Participants are encouraged to collect pledges and earn prizes and can register in advance or on event day beginning at 7 a.m. The event includes a two-mile walk for the animals, fun activities, demonstrations, and pet-friendly shopping. Registration is $50 per person ($25 for children 12 and younger) and includes a limited edition Furry Scurry t-shirt.
