If you are one of the many golfers in the Castle Pines community, you are likely aware that there are more than a dozen golf courses within a half an hour’s drive from the Castle Pines and Castle Rock area. Some are private, some are public, and all are beautifully unique and challenging in their own way.
Perhaps you have a local favorite golf course or a fabulous golf resort that tops your golf experience list. If so, Centennial-based Colorado AvidGolfer (CAG) magazine invites golf enthusiasts to participate in its “Third Annual CAGGY Awards,” where you will have the opportunity to vote for your favorite golf course and more than fifty other categories relating to golf. CAG’s editor Jon Rizzi said they received more than 2,000 responses from last year’s CAGGYs and he expects to exceed that number by 1,500 this year.
According to CAG partner and associate publisher Chris Phillips, the CAGGY Awards are CAG’s version of the Oscars when it comes to the golf world in Colorado. Phillips said, “For thirteen years, we have produced an issue that showcases the best in Colorado golf. The issue, which comes out in the spring, launches the season every year,” said Phillips. (To read about Phillips’ favorites, see related story page 15).
He continued, “The CAGGYs were created in 2012 as a play off of words – CAG (Colorado AvidGolfer). It was also the first time that our brand opened the voting up online. With the changing climate of digital media, online voting allows us to actively engage the community and allows golfers the opportunity to vote for their favorite places to play and experience golf. It is a great resource for golfers in Colorado and acknowledges the efforts being made by the courses and clubs,” he said.
The deadline to vote in the CAGGY Awards is December 18. Winners will be announced in CAG’s spring issue, which is published in February, 2015.
