2013 Color Me Wild participants displayed their true colors.

Sneakers? Check. Community spirit? Check. Picturesque course map? Check. It is time to join your friends, family, neighbors, and dogs for the 3rd Annual Castle Pines Run Wild event.

The Run Wild event, which is brought to you by the City of Castle Pines along with this year’s sponsors is Sunday, September 14 in Elk Ridge Park. The event offers three exciting races for everyone in the family.

If you are a more experienced runner or are looking for a challenge, try the 9-mile run. The 4-mile run is geared towards those who want something more than a traditional 5K run. If being splashed with multi-colored paint powder sounds exciting, the 1K Color Me Wild Run is bound to generate fun and laughter.

Last year more than 400 people participated, and this year race organizers are hoping to break the 500 mark. Amy VanDerSchouw, a previous Run Wild participant said, “It was great to run through our beautiful neighborhood alongside friends and to support a great cause.”

A portion of this year’s proceeds from the Color Me Wild Run will be donated to the Trey McCleery Memorial Fund, which was created to enrich the lives of children in our community that share the same interests as Trey, who passed away earlier this year.

After the races, linger and enjoy the beer garden, pancake breakfast, bouncy house, and splash pad (weather-permitting). Cheer on fellow participants during the awards ceremony where prizes will be awarded for overall winners and age groups.

The Run Wild event is a fantastic way to spend time with friends and enjoy the beauty and spirit of Castle Pines. For more information, visit www.runwild.info.
