2006 Swim Season

by Carin Kirkegaard

Castle Pines North (CPN) is home to two neighborhood swim teams. For the past three years, CPN children have been swimming for the CPN Piranhas through Team Colorado. This summer, CPN will have two options for families to choose from.

As a member of a non-competitive league, the goal of Team Colorado’s swim team is to learn to swim effectively, be part of the team, and most importantly, have fun. Last summer, the team grew from fewer than 40 swimmers to greater than 100.

Many CPN swimmers also swim for Castle Rock’s summer swim team, The Cruisers. This team practices in the Town of Castle Rock and has grown to the point where priority is given to swimmers who live within city limits.

With such large teams, as well as the inconvenience of driving, a group of CPN parents decided to look into the possibility of beginning another swim league.

The focus of the new team, Castle Crocs, is placed on stroke development and refinement. This will be accomplished through stroke clinics offered throughout summer practices. As a member of the Mountain Hi Swim League, swimmers are monitored while competing and during practice, to ensure that strokes are completed in the appropriate manner. This level of competition and attention assures that swimmers will receive instruction where needed.

All swimmers of all abilities from CPN are welcome to join.

Practice Location and Times

Practices will be Monday through Thursday at the HOA#2 pool from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Meets are scheduled throughout the summer.
