Stage Two Fire Restrictions Ordered for Douglas County

C P C - Thursday, June 01, 2006

By Terri Weibold

Due to a significant increase in the risk of fire danger, the Douglas County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution restricting open fires and open burning in unincorporated areas of Douglas County, including Castle Pines North.

The ban, effective June 15, escalated the existing Stage One restrictions to Stage Two, prohibiting all recreational fires and includes all open burning, open campfires, charcoal grills, and fires in chimneys.

PLEASE NOTE: ALL FIREWORKS PROHIBITED IN CASTLE PINES NORTH

All fireworks are prohibited in Castle Pines North (CPN) according to Douglas County. Only professional firework displays properly permitted by the local fire department or fire protection district are permitted within Douglas County.

All inquiries about the restrictions should be directed to Douglas County Emergency Management at 303-660-7589. Any violation of these restrictions should be reported to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at 303-660-7500. Violation of these restrictions is punishable by a fine of up to $600.

Fireworks - Although residents cannot enjoy lighting fireworks this year, they can enjoy the many professional fireworks displays. For a list of July 4th firework celebrations in the area click here.
