Volunteer Teams Merge in Preparation for Incorporation Election

by Lane Roberts

Voting. It is a right often taken for granted; one that defines our nation as a democracy. Whether Republican, Democrat or Independent – – opinions should always be voiced in any election.

The Citizens for the Preservation of Castle Pines North (CPN) was formed to launch petition efforts on behalf of the community in an effort to protect the right of all residents to vote on incorporation. Whether in favor or against incorporation, it is important that CPN residents cast their vote on this issue.

The Preservation Committee currently has teams of community volunteers working to help organize efforts to ensure the highest voter turnout possible. The Election Block team, the Voting Coordination team and the Communication Distribution team are now being combined into the “Get the Vote” team.

“All of our efforts to provide the community with the most comprehensive data in which to make an educated vote will mean nothing if we do not get our residents to vote,” said Preservation Commitee Leader and Master Association President Maureen Shul. “We are coordinating these teams to make sure our efforts result in the highest voter turnout
possible.”

The Get the Vote team, let by volunteers Janet Conner and Shirley Beer Powell, met April 4 to discuss plans to promote voting in CPN and to help secure a high voter turnout. This group will also be working with the Election Commissioners to ensure a valid election.

“Regardless of your opinion on incorporation, we hope our residents will exercise their right to vote,” said Shul. “This team is not for the purpose of telling you how to vote, but to simply get you to cast a vote.”

Until an election date is set by Douglas County District Court, the Get the Vote team will be coordinating small group meetings throughout the community to communicate information and encourage voting. To join this team, please e-mail Contact by email or call 303-957-5300.
