I heard that the Master Association recently hired a new management company. What functions will the new management company provide and why the change now?
Thank you for your inquiry, as this recent decision by the Master Association board has caused incorrect information to be spread throughout the community. Here are the facts.
The Master Association consists of a seven member board of homeowner volunteers that are elected by delegates from each neighborhood HOA. These Master Association board members are not compensated for their time. As a result, the Master Association utilizes independent contractors to perform many necessary tasks, including management, social events and communication.
The reason for selecting a new management company was simple – it saved the Master Association money and time. The cost of the recent incorporation effort has impacted the budget and the board was looking for more efficient ways to operate and reduce costs, while minimizing the amount of volunteer hours contributed by board members.
The Master Association sent out five requests for proposals in March and the board selected Client Preference to serve as the new manager. Instead of paying an hourly rate, Client Preference will charge the Master Association a flat fee each month for the same tasks performed, and they provide additional services at no extra charge.
“The Master Association board’s focus was in streamlining the operations in order to bring more efficiency and cost savings to residents in CPN,” said Master Association Board Treasurer Anna Mallinson. “Our new manager will include things like copies, postage, and answering phone calls and emails, all in one monthly fee so we know what to expect each month.”
