While there are those rare individuals who actually enjoy braving the chaotic mall parking lots and the crowds at the registers for holiday shopping, many prefer to shop in less congested environments with decreased stress. The Castle Pines North business district has the perfect solution to holiday shopping woes…
Discover the convenience and savings of local shopping by supporting Castle Pines North businesses this holiday season. Not only can you save time and gas, but shopping locally directs sales tax dollars spent on non-food purchases right back into the City and the Castle Pines North community.
In the November 2007 election, voters supported the incorporation of Castle Pines North and ballot question “2C” which proposed a sales and use tax of $2.75 on a $100 taxable purchase, or two and three-quarter cents on a dollar.
According to the City of Castle Pines North’s Proposed Revenue Budget for 2009, Sales Tax revenue is budgeted at $867,000. That is a lot of sales tax dollars that would otherwise be going to benefit outside communities. Every purchase and every dollar counts; the more residents spend locally, the more the City, its residents and local businesses benefit.
While most CPN residents are loyal local grocery shoppers, many travel elsewhere for specialty items and non-food items that may in fact be available in CPN. Local businesses offer a variety of products and services that are unique and that are a departure from the ordinary. For specific information about what items and/or services local business have to offer, visit www.cpnhoa.org and click on the “Features” tab and then the “Spotlight” tab.
“Supporting local businesses is important to a community’s success,” said Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce President Sharon Kollmar. According to Kollmar, the Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce currently has almost 150 members, and is growing every day. Many businesses in Castle Pines North and surrounding communities, including home-based businesses, belong to the Chamber. For a listing of local businesses that belong to the Chamber of Commerce, go to www.castlepineschamber.com.
While the Chamber of Commerce and the City continue to develop and mature, it is important that residents in CPN continue to support local businesses. It is the businesses that provide this important tax base; it is the businesses that make CPN more than just a bedroom community; it is the businesses that aid in retention of home values; and it is the businesses that need CPN’s support!
