Castle Pines North resident, Bob Sims, won the
National Senior Games 60-64 age group championship Gold Medal at the Stanford University Golf Course in Palo Alto, California in August.

The competitors played the Black Tees at 6212 yards, rated at 70.6/131. Thirty-five golfers from all over the country competed in the 60-64 age group.

Sims had rounds of 78, 75, and 75 with a birdie on the final hole to win the championship by two strokes. His total 54-hole score bested all age groups.

Sims qualified for the 2009 National Senior Games competition by winning his age group Gold Medal in June at the Rocky Mountain Senior Games with scores of 71 at Boomerang, and 78 at Highlands Hills Golf Courses in Greeley.

Conducted by the National Senior Games Association, the 2009 National Senior Games were held in the San Francisco bay area. The competition involved all sports with more than 12,000 athletes participating this year. The Games will be conducted in Houston in 2011.

Congratulations Bob for showing Californians that Coloradans can do more than ski!
