City of Castle Pines North Independence Day celebration ROCKED!

Article by Terri Wiebold; photos by Tim Gamble

Independence Day came early this year for residents of the City of Castle Pines North. The City held its Fourth of July festivities on July 3 at Coyote Ridge Park.

Early-on rain and gusty winds did not stop local businesses and merchants from displaying their fares and providing concessions for the more than 500 residents who came out to celebrate our nations birthday.

As it does in Colorado, the weather changed course before long, and the evening turned out to be ideal for gathering for live music, fun games and activities. The rain even produced a spectacular rainbow for the event.

Castle Pines North Mayor Maureen Shul introduced the Castle Pines Cappellas for patriotic songs and thanked sponsors Solid Life Christian Center, The Castle Pines Connection, the Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce, the Castle Pines North Master Association, and others for their sponsorship and contributions to the event.

Following two invocations from neighborhood churches, local Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops presented the Colors and three local veterans spoke about their military service.

Special thanks to all who baked home-made pies for the pie judging contest. Congratulations to Susan from The Barking Goat Tavern for her first place entry of a traditional apple pie.
