Destination Book Fair at Buffalo Ridge Elementary

by Carin R. Kirkegaard

Stop by Buffalo Ridge Elementary (BRE) and check out the large selection of book titles available during the Fall Book Fair. The fair opens Saturday, October 3 with a waffle breakfast run by Denver’s Waffle Brothers and run through Thursday, October 8.

On Monday night, plan to stop by the school at 6:30 p.m. for a performance by storyteller, Jane Treat. Treat will be telling funny, thoughtful, multicultural stories that combine true and traditional tales about animals, people and nature with an emphasis on ecological principals like balance and reciprocity.

“The book fair, in addition to offering a wide range of appropriate aged reading choices, is an excellent opportunity for the community to support a local school,” said Kathi Mercer, BRE Book Fair Chair.

Along with selling new books, BRE will be holding a gently used book drive. The donations will be collected for a non-profit group that is starting the first public library in Liberia.
