Hess Road extension in early stages

by Lisa Crockett

Douglas County has begun the first step in what will be a years-long process in connecting Castle Pines North (CPN) and the Town of Parker. Hess Road, which at the current time terminates at Chambers Road in Parker, will eventually be extended to end at the Castle Pines Parkway interchange on I-25. The first phase of the road, a mile and a half stretch beginning at Chambers Road, has recently been advertised for construction bids.

The final design for the road is underway. It will still be quite some time, however, before traffic flows on the new road.

“If construction begins in late 2009 or 2010 then it is anticipated that this initial two lane roadway section could be open to traffic no earlier than Summer 2011,” said Wendy Holmes, Public Affairs Director for Douglas County. “Pending future Board of County Commissioners approving the necessary funds to complete the construction of this multi-year project as part of future annual budgets.”
