Landscape master plan features Xeriscapes

Information and photo provided by the Castle Pines North Metro District

The first phase of the Master Landscape Plan has wrapped up and, like any construction project, the results were well worth waiting for.

The roundabout at Daniel’s Park Road is graced with Colorado Green Moss and Rounded River Granite boulders, trees, shrubs, grasses, perennial shrubs, and annual flowers.

The Xeriscape Demonstration Garden is a nice respite for walkers and joggers along Monarch Boulevard, and homeowners looking for gardening ideas will be able to see, first-hand, native plant materials and visualize how they may look in their own yards.

Xeric trees, shrubs, grasses, perennial shrubs, and annual flowers are interspersed amongst Colorado Green Moss and Rounded River Granite boulders. A minimal amount of Kentucky Bluegrass will complete a portion of the garden’s perimeter. Signage will be added to reference and identify the different plants.

The East Entrance (Castle Pines Pkwy. and Yorkshire) and North Entrance (Monarch Blvd. and Serena Ave.) continue the landscaping theme with the use of Colorado Green Moss and Rounded River Granite boulders, trees, shrubs, grasses, perennial shrubs, and annual flowers. Landscaping in the center median along the East Entrance has also been updated to increase water conservation with the addition of boulders and drip irrigation for the shrubbery.

Norris Design worked with the Master Landscape Plan Committee to develop the four-year Master Landscape Plan, which is designed to create a unique and distinctive identity for areas throughout the Castle Pines North community.

The Master Landscape Committee will meet in August to review the Master Landscape Plan and determine which areas will be targeted for Phase II of the project, which will begin in 2010.
