Timi Aguilar of Aguilar Public Relations has been selected as one of ten entrepreneurs across the United States to receive the Anna Maria Arias Memorial Business Fund.

The Anna Maria Arias Fund was created to recognize the accomplishments of Anna Maria Arias, the late founder and editor of LATINA Style Magazine. Her drive and mission to empower Hispanic women is one of the true legacies in the Hispanic community.

The Fund celebrates this spirit of entrepreneurship that was Anna Maria’s vision and that today serves to fuel the phenomenal growth of the Latina business sector.

Aguilar has been awarded an educational grant and will attend an Advanced Executive Education Program at the Tuck School of Business in the Summer of 2010. She was selected based on qualifications as a business professional and her community involvement.

“I was very honored to receive the award,” said Aguilar. “I felt privileged to be there [in Washington D.C.] because a lot of the other businesses were huge compared to mine. With this, I will be able to learn a lot from these women who have become successful business owners. You don’t have to work for a big company to be successful.”

Aguilar volunteers her time and talents to many local charitable and non-profit organizations, as well as being very active in her kids’ schools. She lives in Castle Pines North and is also a member of the Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce.

“As a business leader, we should give back to the community in any way we can,” she said, “and this will afford me the opportunity to do so.”
