Local girlfriends help a Denver charity

The Warren Village “Great American Jacket Exchange” was held in October and several groups from the Castle Pines community made their way to the Oxford Hotel in Denver for an evening of shopping, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.
“More than 175 savvy ladies enjoyed a lovely evening at the Oxford Hotel, complete with music, tasty appetizers, libations, and of course, plenty of networking while shopping for those perfect items,” said Sue Mohrman, president and CEO of Warren Village.
With the purchase of a $25 ticket event attendees bring a jacket, purse, or two pieces of jewelry to exchange for another item.
With ticket sales and in-kind donations, Warren Village raises necessary funds and those attending the event have a chance to update a wardrobe and spend an evening with friends shopping and helping a worthy cause.
Local Denver television personality Molly Hughes was the evening’s emcee and wove together the inspiring stories of former residents who are making a way in the world with the services received from Warren Village.
“I’ve become an advocate in the community and believe determination has the power to turn dreams into realities,” said LaShae, a former Warren Village resident.
Nearly $17,500 was raised October 1. The annual event is held to raise funds that will directly support services that Warren Village provides to single parent families.
“Every year we are taken aback by the amazing success of the event,” said Sue Mohrman, President and CEO of Warren Village.
Warren Village helps motivated low-income, previously homeless single parent families move from public assistance to personal and economic self-sufficiency through subsidized housing, on-site nationally accredited child care, intensive case management, education guidance and career development.
