Snow Removal Contract Secure for Castle Pines North

by Terri Wiebold

On January 20, 2009, the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution approving the Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Castle Pines North and Douglas County concerning snow removal services.

The City of Castle Pines North requested that the County enter into an intergovernmental agreement setting forth the terms and conditions under which the County would perform snow removal services for the City on those streets within the boundaries of the City which are currently maintained by the County for the period of February 13, 2009 through May 31, 2009.

Douglas County Public Works Road and Bridge Manager Randy Teague recommended approval of the continuation of snow removal services during that timeframe in order to, “provide a smoother transition of this function between the two entities.”

The estimated cost to provide snow removal services from February to May is approximately $49,000. The cost also includes periodic sweeping of residual sand from the roadways since salt/sand is the primary de-icing product used in Castle Pines North.

According to Teague, the County is recommending that the City of Castle Pines North pay the County monthly installments in February, March, April and May, totaling $49,033 for these services.
