Timber Trail moms and sons kickin’ it together

Timber Trail boys compete in the inaugural mother-son kickball tournament at Coyote Ridge Park in August.

Submitted By Jenny Hanna and Kathy Werbick

Timber Trail Elementary hosted its first ever Mother and Son Kickball tournament on August 21 at Coyote Ridge Park. The idea sprung from the Father/Daughter Snowball Dance. They wanted to have an event that focused on the mothers and sons.

The kickball game was tournament style with 16 teams vying for the championship title. With nearly 200 mothers and sons participating in the tournament, they had a ball of fun! The tournament included friendly camaraderie, kickball tee shirts, dinner, and snow cones as well as medals for the champions.

A big yahoo goes to MedExpress Urgent Care, Colorado Kids Pediatric Dentistry, Solid Life Christian Center, Derek Kliner, Elements, and Play It Again Sports for sponsoring the event. Because of our amazing sponsors, the tournament raised about $1,200, which will be used to help purchase a rock climbing wall for the gym.

Another big thanks goes out to Kimberly Jester and Lyndsay Cummings (teachers at TTE), the 20 dads who volunteered, and the kickball committee for donating their time!

The kickball tournament was a big hit, and TTE is looking forward to their Second Annual tournament next year!

The winning team, the “One Kick Wonders” (pictured above) played against the “Kicker Bees” to win the championship game.
