Timber Trail Elementary’s (TTE) Kimberly Kurtzuba has been nominated to represent the school as their outstanding teacher this year. Kurtzuba will join the ranks of teachers from other schools all over Douglas County School District (DCSD) who are eligible to receive the “Apple Award,” a special recognition for one outstanding teacher. The award is given each year by the Douglas County Educational Foundation.

“I was completely surprised and absolutely flattered!” said Kurtzuba of the nomination.

Kurtzuba teaches fourth grade at TTE, where she has been on the teaching staff for five years. Prior to that, she taught at Fox Creek Elementary, also in Douglas County, for three years.

“This is an honor I share with each member of the Timber Trail community, most especially the amazingly talented and committed staff at Timber Trail,” said Kurtzuba. “My successes at Timber Trail are a direct result of being surrounded and encouraged by an exemplary staff whose dedication to student achievement is unchallenged.”

The Apple Awards is a fund-raising event for DCSD made possible through the sponsorship of many local and national companies.
