The Castle Pines Economic Development Council (CP EDC) unanimously elected Maureen Shul as its new president in February. Shul replaced David Verebely, who was instrumental in the formation of the organization.

The CP EDC is a nonprofit organization that works in tandem with neighboring municipalities, Chambers of Commerce, and economic development organizations for the purposes of enhancing Castle Pines North’s economic development opportunities, recruitment of sustainable businesses, and to encourage employment bases to locate within the broad trade area.

Shul, former mayor of Castle Pines North, stated “With the annexation of The Canyons 3,300-acre development into our city last year, we must aggressively put plans in place that will enhance and solidify our ability to compete for economic development opportunities as well as strengthen our existing economic and business base.” Shul continued, “With our expanded boundaries, our goal is to have the City of Castle Pines North be the most attractive and exciting development opportunity for businesses that add to the strong economic fabric of our community as well as all of Douglas County.”

Castle Pines North Council member Kim Hoffman – city liaison to the CP EDC – added, “The efforts of the CP EDC must include strengthening and building our existing economic base as well as bringing in those businesses that compliment the needs of our community. I look forward to helping the CP EDC in those efforts.”
