A new business recently opened just to the east of the Castle Pines community in Parker. Mile High Pole Club is offering a variety of classes for women. With no recreation center in Castle Pines North and few options for fitness, the studio is just a short drive away providing another option for community members to work out.

Pole dancing comes directly from an industry with a questionable background that definitely carries a stigma, but since roughly 2004 the pole-dancing phenomenon has become the newest fitness craze that is all about building muscles, relieving stress and empowering women.

According to Dionne Sieretzki, Mile High Pole Club owner and instructor, her clientele consists of all women in their late thirties, forties and fifties. “This is an opportunity for women who have a day filled with work and kids to get away and do something for themselves,” commented Sieretzki.

Attending the first class can be intimidating to many, continued Sieretzki, but there are curtains to ensure privacy as well as low lighting in the studio. Once a class begins, the front doors are locked.

Having just held its grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony, the studio is filled with clients who are new to this particular brand of fitness. To accommodate, classes are designed to teach as well as provide a workout.

A typical beginning class teaches various moves set to music, like the “cash dollar” spin and “mud-flap girl” that get put into a routine which is performed at the end of class, with disco ball lights and all.

Mile High Pole Club currently offers five different classes held at a various times throughout the day.

The pole instruction class is designed to introduce the different holds, spins and tricks that are incorporated into a routine and is completely taught by an instructor. Each class begins with a warm-up and a time at the end for stretching and cool-down.

Once a student feels comfortable with the beginning moves, the pole fitness class is partially instructor lead. This class is designed to allow students to practice moves learned in the pole instruction class. Each class begins with a warm-up and is followed by strength exercises for the upper body, core and leg muscles. Students then have practice time followed by a routine with stretching and a cool-down.

Those looking for a class that provides more stretching and strengthening can take the chair floor class. This class takes traditional Pilates and yoga moves and adds a twist, all the while working on slimmer waistlines, firmer body parts and dramatically increased flexibility.

For more stretching and toning with the pole, the stretch-n-pole class is based on yoga stretches and toning exercises and incorporates pole routine moves.

The sexy fit class provides a high intensity cardio based workout that focuses on the hips and the core. The class is an upbeat dance routine that gets students moving in new ways.
