City Public Works Projects

Information provided by the City of Castle Pines North

With the warmer weather months, Public Works is busy with a number of projects:

Asphalt Crack Sealing – City crews performed asphalt pavement crack sealing during the end of May into early June. This work entailed filling asphalt cracks in the streets and along the concrete curb edges to prevent water from seeping under the asphalt which creates potholes and other structural damage to the pavement. This work was performed on the north end of the City. Plans include additional crack filling in the fall, prior to the winter snow season.

Concrete Maintenance – City staff inventoried all of the damaged and deteriorating curb and gutter and sidewalks on residential streets throughout the City. Areas were prioritized based upon safety concerns and severity of deteriorization. City crews addressed concrete replacement and repairs based upon these priorities in mid June; and, crews will continue these efforts throughout the summer.

Crosswalk Painting – City crews have begun • repainting the crosswalks around the City, specifically those near schools. This work began in late June and will continue in July while schools are closed.

Pavement Management Program – City staff is working with Infrastructure Management Services (IMS), a pavement management consulting company, to assist the City with the development of a pavement management program. All public streets have been scanned and pavement conditions have been recorded. These pavement conditions are being evaluated to determine the best maintenance or reconstruction solution to maintain the City’s street system. The culmination of this evaluation will result in a final report and pavement management program for the City to utilize in determining future pavement improvement projects.
