Council reorganizes city committees

This information has been provided by the City of Castle Pines North.

The Castle Pines North City Council has had significant discussions about their citizen committee structure and its overall effectiveness. At a recent retreat, the City Council decided to restructure all of their committees in order to clarify their roles, make them more streamlined, and provide a more effective opportunity for citizens to be involved and participate.

As a result of this reorganization, the Council has consolidated some committees, “spun off” some to operate independently, and completely eliminated others.

One of the committees moving to independent status is the environmental group CP Green. But before cutting formal ties with the group’s volunteers, City Council shared an official and public “thank you” by way of a resolution passed at their August 10 meeting.

The resolution recognized the value CP Green adds to Castle Pines North and adjacent communities through socially and environmentally responsible programs and continued promotion of environmentally sound programs and practices.

Council further expressed its “support and desire for the CP Green Committee to continue its efforts in social, economic and environmental sustainability.”

At their next meeting, the City Council will consider a Resolution formalizing the new committee structure, creating three new committees: 1) Public Works, Utilities, and Parks 2) Communications and Community Outreach, and 3) Budget, Finance and Professional Services

Any citizen of Castle Pines North interested in serving on these new committees is encouraged to apply and can access an application form on the City’s website at www.cpngov.com or stop in at City Hall to apply.
