City Council appointed Maureen Shul as a Ward 1 council member at the March 23 City Council meeting, replacing former Ward 1 representative Darwin Horan, who submitted his letter of resignation effective March 9.

Council members immediately announced the opening, accepted and reviewed résumés/letters of interest through March 12. After interviewing the three candidates, Council members decided that appointing Shul – who led incorporation efforts, served as Castle Pines North’s first mayor and is president of the Economic Development Council – would be in the best interests of the citizens.

“I appreciate and thank the council for giving me the privilege of continuing to contribute to the growth and success of our city on behalf of Ward I residents,” says Shul. “I look forward to the challenges and opportunities ahead.”

Shul will carry out the remainder of the two-year term until the next regular election, which will be held in November 2011.
