Local Five Stones Sports dedicated to community involvement

By Tracy Dudley

The new youth sports organization headquartered in Castle Pines North, Five Stones Sports, continues its dedication to helping in local communities. On July 31, the Five Stones baseball team will participate in Reece’s Round Up, which is a baseball game with the children from Tennyson Center in Denver that supports Reece Rubino and his fight against Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

Additionally, Five Stones Sports will be involved in a large-scale graffiti clean-up through Extreme Community Makeover, a community-based initiative based in Denver. The Five Stones team will also participate in a summer fundraiser for the Buddy Center in Castle Rock, which is the Douglas County branch of the Dumb Friends League.

“Five Stones Sports places an emphasis on belief, family, community, team and commitment. We include community in order to teach life lessons, in addition to sportsmanship and values,” said Kent Lansville, Director of Athletics.

During its first year, Five Stones teams have done very well. Their 10 and younger baseball team took second place in the NJJBA May Day Majors Baseball Tournament, and their motocross team placed fourth at Thunder Valley. What’s more, their multi-sport team had many first place finishes in the Barking Dog Duathlon at Cherry Creek Reservoir. In fact, the multi-sport team is working on youth clinics to help children and adults prepare for their first triathlons.

“We’d like to announce that tackle football registration has opened,” said Lansville “We will be a part of the Colorado ACYFL League, and registration information is on our website.”
