Zonta Club of Douglas County hosts successful trivia event

On the evening of May 22, twenty-one teams gathered confidently in Kirk Hall at the Douglas County Fairgrounds to compete in the 6th Annual Trivia Event hosted by the Zonta Club of Douglas County.
After 10 rounds of challenging trivia questions on topics that ranged from sports stats to Colorado facts to Russian tidbits, the “Running with Scissors Team” (Suzanne Larue, Piet and Carolyn Kallemeyn, Robert Cunningham, Sharon Weber and Angie DeLieo) emerged as the overall winner—receiving a $600 prize. Second place with a $300 prize went to “And the Winners Are Team” (Joe Crenshaw, Marsha Altston, Sherry and Larry Monroe, Carla Turner and Randy Prince).
IREA was the event sponsor and other sponsors included Angie’s (which provided dinner for team members), 1st Bank of Douglas County, and the Tim Brown Agency of American Family Insurance. Reggie Rivers of CBS4 served as emcee for the event.
“We couldn’t have had such a successful event without the generous support of our sponsors,” says Janell Will, 2010 Trivia Event Chair. “Team members enjoyed a delicious dinner, beverages and snacks, chocolate fountain, silent and live auction items, and prizes for each round of trivia.”
Proceeds from Zonta’s Annual Trivia Event are used for local community service organizations to help women in need. Past recipients have included the Women’s Crisis and Family Outreach Center, Douglas/Elbert County Task Force, Project Cure, local scholarships, Polaris Project, WINGs, Douglas County Law Enforcement Centers for victim kits, and Zonta International Service projects.
