Fourth grade students at Buffalo Ridge Elementary took families and visitors on a Rocky Mountain Road Trip on Thursday, January 13, to celebrate year-long learning about Colorado history. The gym was transformed into the Centennial State with markers identifying key cities and towns.

Students were paired up and assigned a Colorado city to research. They gathered data and interesting facts via the internet and local chambers and were tasked with teaching visitors to their city all about its history. Using creatively prepared presentation boards, slide shows, recordings, visitor brochures and more, students dressed in character and brought the Wild West to life. After an hour tour of the state, fourth graders ended the event with songs (Colorado, Mountain Men, Columbine and Gold Rush) and dances (Virginia Reel, Golden Slippers, Cotton Eyed Joe, and Hinky Dinky Parley Voo).
