Summer just wouldn’t be summer in Castle Pines without baseball. For the third consecutive summer, Castle Pines Athletics is coordinating a co-ed t-ball and baseball program for local children. Registration for baseball is now open and the deadline to register is Monday, April 25. The program runs June 6 to August 7.

For the little sluggers, (preschoolers and children entering kindergarten,) Castle Pines Athletics offers a t-ball program perfect for beginners.

“Our four and five-year olds have so much fun playing t-ball,” said Lane Roberts, director of Castle Pines Athletics. “For most little ones, it’s all about getting out there, putting on ball caps and cleats like their big brothers and sisters. We have some kids that enjoy playing ball, and some that enjoy picking daisies, but everyone is guaranteed to have fun.”

For children entering first to third grades, Castle Pines Athletics offers “coach pitch” baseball. The coach pitch baseball program offers a fun, safe and “laid back” approach to sports.

“Our motto for baseball is safe, simple and fun,” Roberts said. “Not only do we offer families a casual place for their children to play, but we practice and play games right here in the Castle Pines community.”

Both the t-ball and baseball programs have a practice and a game each week. Games are held at The Retreat Park and Buffalo Ridge Elementary.

The cost for baseball is $90 for residents of the City of Castle Pines, and $110 for non-residents. The fee includes a baseball cap, team t-shirt and a participation award.

Volunteer coaches are also needed for the baseball and t-ball programs. “Our moms and dads that coach summer t-ball and baseball have so much fun with these kids,” said Roberts. “It’s not about keeping score for these kids, and it’s not too serious. It’s about the love of the game. It’s about playing ball with kids in the neighborhood, where everyone is a winner.”
