Dozens of people crowded around presentation boards and quizzed Town of Castle Rock, Douglas County, and other representatives at a recent North Meadows Extension open house.

The event followed the town’s release of its Value Engineer Study, which identified cost-saving measures, while maintaining the integrity of the originally approved Castlegate Alternative. Estimated costs for the Castlegate Alternative range from $66 to $69 million. The Value Engineer Study’s recommended measures could reduce this to a range of $57 to $60 million.

The Study also considered an underpass configuration for the I-25 interchange, with an estimated additional cost of $2 to $4.25 million, if implemented. The Town is working toward a construction target date of 2013 or 2014.
