A rising star; from Castle Pines to Hollywood

They say, if you can make it in Hollywood, you can make it anywhere. No one knows that better than former Castle Pines resident, Nick Loritsch. For as long as he can remember, Loritsch has wanted to be a filmmaker.

“Born and Raised” is Loritsch’s debut motion picture. Not only did he write the screenplay, but he stars in the film as the character, Bubbs. Born and Raised was a true family affair. Loritsch’s brother Adam is executive producer, and Loritsch’s parents, Kenneth and Denice, who still reside in Castle Pines, are producers and have cameo acting rolls in the film.

Loritsch attended Douglas County High School in Castle Rock where he developed his love of film at the hands of a wonderful English teacher and mentor, Mr. Mathew Wigdahl. Wigdahl helped Loritsch learn that writing could flow into a story, and how that story could turn in to a screenplay, and that screenplay could transform into a motion picture.

After high school, Loritsch went on to The University of Colorado Film School, where he met his second mentor, and now business partner, Jerry Aronson. Graduating college in 2001, Loritsch worked diligently on breaking into the business. He moved to Los Angeles and landed an incredible job at DreamWorks. Loritsch created two short films there, and from those first films came the inspiration to write his first feature film, Born and Raised.

Born and Raised is the story of the relationship between a young man and his well-traveled, outlaw grandfather. It is a story of life and love, and growing into a man. It is full of heart, but at the same time hits home with its dramatic storyline.

Born and Raised is a Jerry-Rigged Film. Loritsch created Jerry-Rigged Film Company, along with Aronson and college friend Joshua Dragge in 2007. Born and Raised has debuted at many film festivals, including the Sonoma International Film Festival, Miami International Film Festival, and is coming to the Breckenridge Film Festival June 7-10.
