HOA 1 resident Mira Brand gave up her high-stress job in corporate marketing three years ago, just before the birth of her third child. This gave her more time to spend with her kids and time to investigate something that had become a big problem in their lives – allergies.

Brand has two boys, Carter (10) and Dylan (8), as well as a daughter, Skylar (3). While Skylar has only mild allergies to dairy, Carter and Dylan have allergies to dairy, gluten, soy and eggs. Carter also suffered from asthma, eczema, and chronic headaches, and Dylan had chronic stomach pain.

Determined to find relief for her sons, Brand sought the help of a specialist in 2010, which led her to a more in-depth investigation of products, foods, and additives that contribute to allergic responses. Her inquiries prompted her to purchase organic and non-GMO (genetically modified) foods, and green supplies for her family.

Brand says, “Buying green supplies was more expensive, which was fine with me because I was helping my kids. But I didn’t always see the results I was hoping for.”

Eighteen months ago, Brand made some new discoveries and switched many of her foods and household products to live even “cleaner and greener” and to remove toxins from her home. Since then, her boys have made dramatic improvements. When friends and family asked Brand what she did to help with the allergies, she began educating them.

Brand has now made a new career educating people about toxins and advising them about healthier product alternatives. Brand states, “Even if people don’t have health conditions now, the likelihood of them developing one is very high. Studies show that 41 percent of Americans will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives. Many of these studies have pointed to our reliance on chemicals as the main culprit,” she explained.

Brand hosts health and wellness workshops to share her knowledge, and earns income as an independent representative for a company specializing in all types of wellness products – including nutritional supplements, pharmaceutical products, eco-friendly cleaners, and toxin-free cosmetics and personal care products. She also hosts smaller, in-home seminars and webcasts to educate people about how to eliminate toxins from their homes and save money at the same time.

Brand is hosting several seminars in March at Dukes Steakhouse in Castle Pines. RSVP’s are required to attend. For more information or to make a reservation, call 303-884-3082 by e-mail.

Brand remarked, “I’m very passionate about this because I have seen the benefits for my entire family, especially my kids! It’s really rewarding to me to help people live healthier and happier lives!” To find out more information, visit Brand’s website at www.livetotalwellness.com/greenglobe.
