Turn spring fever into fun and fitness

March and April usually bring more snow for the Douglas County area and people start to get antsy and get spring fever. This is also the time when many individuals start thinking about squeezing into last years swim suit, getting in shape to go hiking, or gathering the family together for fun and fitness.
While the Castle Pines area does not yet have the luxury of a recreation center, the community is close to three top-notch recreation centers in Douglas County: Parker Recreation Center and Field House, the Castle Rock Recreation Center and Lone Tree Recreation Center. Each facility offers friendly and knowledgeable staff.
All of these recreation centers feature work-out areas, fitness classes, weight-lifting equipment, fun and educational classes for kids and adults, indoor swimming pools, gymnasiums, babysitting facilities, senior activities, meeting rooms and many other amenities. The Parker Field House is the newest center and an extension of the Parker recreation center. This amazing facility features an indoor turf field for soccer, football and lacrosse. There is and inline hockey rink, a 25-foot climbing wall, two high school size basketball courts, a running track, and batting cages.
Parents take note: there are Kids Night Out programs and Parents Night Out too. These are supervised by adults and offer kids a night of fun and parents a date night. A real plus is that the recreation centers offer before and after school programs and summer programs for the many parents who work.
Although Castle Pines residents, and the unincorporated areas in Douglas County do not qualify for resident fees, the centers do offer non-resident fees and non-resident discounts. So, if you are itching to tango or pitch softball, go bird watching, or become a first-rate chef, check out the Douglas County recreation centers.
