Wag’n Trail benefits the Buddy Center

By Elean Gersack

Follow the trail of wagging tails and wet noses to the Dumb Friends League’s Wag ‘n Trail and help support homeless pets. This 1.6-mile hike, for people and their dogs, takes place Saturday, September 22, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Glendale Farm Open Space on the west side of Surrey Ridge. The seventh annual fundraiser benefits The Buddy Center in Castle Rock.

The Buddy Center provides shelter and care for more than 5,000 homeless pets each year. In addition to adopting homeless pets, the center also offers other programs and services, including lost and found, behavior training, humane education and animal cruelty investigations.

Participants can hike anytime during the four-hour event. Those raising at least $75 in pledges will receive a long-sleeved Wag ‘n Trail t-shirt, people and doggie ice cream, and will have a professional photo taken on the trail. After the hike, animal lovers will enjoy demonstrations, food and refreshments, and can purchase pet-related merchandise from vendors.

For more information or to register, visit ddfl.org/wnt. The Dumb Friends League has two shelters: 2080 S. Quebec Street in Denver and The Buddy Center at 4556 Castleton Court in Castle Rock.
