A decade of sass with no end in sight

The tenth annual Sassy Soiree on Friday, September 13 at the Douglas County Event Center was once again a huge success. The event benefits the emergency services provided by the Douglas/Elbert County Task Force and highlights the wares of Treasures on Park Street, the task force’s thrift store in Castle Rock.
A full house attended the silent auction, luncheon and ever-popular fashion show, which included two of Castle Pines’ own, namely Castle Pines Village resident and President of the Castle Pines Rotary Club Elaine Love, as well as Nicole Moses, owner of the Castle Pines UPS Store and member of the Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
The official amount raised this year was a whopping $39,000, which will go to the great cause of helping those in need of housing, clothing and food. Auction items included gourmet food, museum tickets, artwork, toys, and spa services among many others.
Former Soiree model and owner of Copperfalls Aveda Day Spa and Salon Stefanie Palko commented, “It was a pleasure to be able to give back by volunteering to do all of the models’ hair and make up this year.”
The grand finale was the ever-popular and timeless Bella DiVita, now 89-years-old, who strutted the runway and was greeted by men from the audience, each handing her a red rose. Co-chair Nani Lindig remarked, “Seeing Miss Bella live is such a hoot! We all want to look like and be as spry and together as her, when we grow up!”
Castle Rock’s Treasures on Park Street, located at 1638 Park Street, is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, except Wednesday with the hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The unique thrift store carries merchandise ranging from children’s clothing and toys to housewares, adult clothing and books. All donations to the thrift store are one hundred percent tax deductible.
