DCS Montessori fun run coming soon

By Kathy Dunker

It’s that time of year again for the annual DCS Montessori (DCSM) parents, teachers, staff, and students to gear up for the Fun Run on Friday, September 13. The school’s goal this year is to raise $50,000. A target amount of $100 per student in pledges has been set to help them reach that goal.

The annual Fun Run is an exciting event that sparks enthusiasm in students from pre-schoolers all the way up to the teenagers in the new DCSM Middle School. All students are welcome to participate. They will receive their own Fun Run t-shirt and can win prizes for their lap running efforts.

The Montessori Educational Foundation (MEF) assists DCSM with all fundraising activities and has hosted the Fun Run for the past two years. Each year the school’s supporters have exceeded their expectations of giving, quickly proving this event to be DCSM’s most important fundraiser.

Last year’s pledges helped fund some wonderful improvements, including a newly-remodeled library, new paint and countertops in the three pod areas, and breaking ground on the new middle school. The money raised this year is earmarked to fund a growing list of additional improvements, including shade structures for the playgrounds, technology upgrades, more new paint, new carpet, and new linoleum in the bathrooms.
