Historic photos and stories of Douglas County needed

Brothers Everitt, George, John and Richard on the farm, 1932

Information provided by Jean Jacobsen, Castle Rock Writers

Castle Rock Writers is researching and writing a new history of Douglas County, starting with prehistoric times and ending with the beginning of the 21st century. The History Press will publish the book in the fall of 2013.

The group is soliciting photos and stories from people who presently call Douglas County their home, as well as those who lived or worked in the area during earlier decades.

“We are interested in recording stories of life in Douglas County to preserve them for future generations,” said Alice Aldridge-Dennis, one of the projects managers. “Our writing team hopes that residents, past or present, will bring us photos to scan and include in the book. We also want to hear anecdotes about and descriptions of Douglas County events and lifestyles.”

Other writers on the team include Mark A. Cohen, Derald Hoffman, Jean Jacobsen, John Longman, Susan Rocco-McKeel, and Tania Urenda.

Anyone interested in contributing can contact the Castle Rock Writers to set up an individual appointment for an interview with one of the writers. Jean Jacobsen, president of the Castle Rock Writers may be reached at 720-373-8966 or by e-mail. Project manager Alice Aldridge-Dennis may be reached at 303-521-8615 or e-mail alicea-d@mho.com.

The deadline for submissions is June 15.
