John Irwin Award returns to Castle Pines

“Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’d like to thank…” is what our staff and students said here at Buffalo Ridge Elementary (BRE). We have won the Colorado Department of Education’s John Irwin Award two years in a row.
But it’s not like only one award is given out to only one school. In fact, all of the other Castle Pines Schools won this year, too! Like American Academy, DCS Montessori, Timber Trail Elementary School, Rocky Heights Middle School, and Rock Canyon High School. Whew! Look at all of those schools – great job everyone!
Oh, you do not know what the John Irwin Award is, do you? Well then, I guess I’ll have to tell you. This award is based on academic achievements and meeting indicator goals. “We received great scores on our Transitional Colorado Assessment Program (TCAP) testing,” said Lynn Bisesi, building resource teacher for BRE.
Winning this is a pretty big deal right? So, I interviewed a student at Buffalo Ridge Elementary. “We have a great staff. They are very well experienced and teach very well. We probably got this award because many kids here work hard on getting a good education. So those kids probably feel good that they are the ones who helped us get the John Irwin Award,” said Seth S., fifth grader.
Through all of their hard work teaching and learning, the staff and students have earned the spotlight for BRE. The learning community at BRE is proud to be on the award-winning list!
