The Solheim Cup countdown begins in earnest

By Lisa Crockett

Spring has sprung, and officials at the Colorado Golf Club, as well as golf enthusiasts the world over, are now excitedly looking forward to the Solheim Cup. The biannual event takes place in Parker this August, and players and fans can hardly wait.

“Major championships are coming into full swing and competition is fierce among the players on both tours to get a spot for the Solheim Cup,” said Tom Ferrell, the marketing and communications director for Colorado Golf Club. “People should be thinking now about getting tickets to the event. For business entertaining, there are still some corporate hospitality packages available too.”

A variety of sponsorship packages – ranging from $12,000 to $150,000 – are available to serve the needs of any business, organization or corporation and allow for a one-of-a-kind experience at the prestigious international event. The packages include amenities and features such as cottage rental, hospitality privileges, social functions, golf excursions, VIP function invitations, and advertising.

Held every two years on alternating sides of the Atlantic since 1990, the event has grown into the most prestigious international women’s professional golf team event. It is unlikely that the event will be held in Colorado again in the near future – if ever.

“This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” said Ferrell. “This isn’t a regular golf tournament. You’ve never heard roars on a golf course like this before. The element of representing a country makes this really exciting. Here at the Colorado Golf Club we’re ready and excited to get the season started.”

The Solheim Cup takes place August 13 through 18. For more information, including opportunities for volunteers or sponsorship, visit www.solheimcup.com. For additional information about Colorado Golf Club, visit www.ColoradoGolfClub.com.
