The Town of Castle Rock (Town) will be hosting an open house for the public on Tuesday, February 26, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Castleview High School, 5254 N. Meadows Drive, in The Meadows development in Castle Rock.

According to Dan Sailer, engineering manager for the Town, the purpose for the open house is to provide the public with updated design information, projected construction phasing, and an estimated timeline for construction start and completion dates for an overpass connection from The Meadows development to U.S. Highway 85 in Castle Rock.

The open house will be informal and feature various information stations where the public can review the overpass project in more detail. Town staff, the design consultant, and the contractor will be available at the stations to answer questions. Representatives from Douglas County and the Colorado Department of Transportation are expected to attend the open house and also be available to answer questions.

The overpass project will provide a secondary access for northbound traffic from The Meadows development onto U.S. Highway 85. The overpass will become part of the Town’s North Meadows Extension, a long-term, multi-million dollar roadway project. It is expected to help relieve traffic congestion along Founders and Meadows Parkway at the U.S. Highway 85 and I-25 intersections, and also improve traffic flow for I-25 on/off ramps in this area.

Following the open house, Town staff will continue finalizing the remaining design plans, work on land acquisition needs, and move toward construction beginning this year. Sailer said, “Specific construction dates are not yet established. The early construction package (west of U.S. Highway 85) is projected to begin this spring. Full completion is still projected for the end of 2015.” For further information, contact Dan Sailer by e-mail dsailer@crgov.com.
