Buffalo Ridge third semester showcase

Article and photo by Lynne Marsala Basche

Buffalo Ridge Elementary school was excited to share its third school-wide showcase with the community in March.  The quarterly showcases, which are designed to give family, friends, and the community an opportunity to stop by BRE and view the students’ semester work, are part of the Douglas County School District’s concept of Enduring Understanding.  The third semester presentations focused on the theme “Inquiry Guides Problem Solving” and allowed each grade to take learning beyond the traditional classroom.

Third graders learned about goods, services, supply, and demand.  To understand the concepts, students in small groups brainstormed ideas, wrote scripts, rehearsed, and filmed commercials.  Students proudly showed their commercials to friends and family and explained what they learned throughout the semester.
