How can we as a community help keep our teens safe?  One proven way is to provide a fun, substance-free event on prom night, one of the most dangerous nights of the year for teens.

Rock Canyon High School (RCHS) Principal Andy Abner said, “Our goal is to raise $25,000, which will allow us to maintain our tradition of hosting the largest after prom party in all of Douglas County.”  To do this, RCHS will host the ninth annual RCHS “Rock the Runway” Fashion Show and Auction to raise funds for the after prom event.  The fashion show, themed “Reach for the Stars” will take place February 22 at the Denver Tech Center Marriott beginning at noon.

A ticket includes a professional fashion show with student models as well as lunch.  This year, elementary and middle schools that feed into RCHS are invited to be part of the show which will truly bring our school community together.

Gather a group of friends for a fun day in support of our kids.  Fashion show co-chair Heidi Wing said, “By supporting our fashion show, you will be helping to ensure a safe experience for our kids on prom night.”

There are many ways to support this event.  To buy tickets, donate an item for the silent auction, or to become a corporate sponsor or volunteer, visit the RCHS home page at https://sites.google.com/a/dcsdk12.org/rchs/ and click on the “Rock the Runway” banner on the lower left side.  For any questions, contact Karen Brankin, volunteer coordinator at RCHS at 303-387-3008 or e-mail.
