Vacationing made easier with travel eBooks

By Patte Smith

Planning a vacation is fun and exciting.  The kids want new swimsuits for the pool, adults want time to relax, and the entire family wants an adventure-packed trip.  Organizing this vacation-of-all -vacations can be a tad stressful though.  Finding a place to stay, discovering attractions everyone will enjoy, locating where to dine, and uncovering hidden gems where the locals frequent are all tasks at hand.

Travel guides are a good source for planning a holiday beforehand, but “ugh”, who wants to drag the book, the maps, and directions around while exploring your new surroundings?  No one.

Help is here –Travel eBooks.  Available at Douglas County Libraries (DCL) for you to upload to your iPhone, Android, tablet, Kindle, or your computer, these electronic versions of travel books can help make planning and vacationing easy.

All eBooks are available at DCL through three providers; OverDrive, 3M Cloud Library, and the eBooks owned by the library.  Borrowers must have an active library card with a PIN and either a smartphone, tablet, or computer able to access the DCL website.

New users to eBooks will need some help getting started.  There are some basics users need to know with downloading any eBook.  Help is available at all branch libraries to get you started and support can also be found online, by phone, or live chat.

To get eBook support online go to www.douglascountylibraries.com and click on the red ASK US button in the upper right corner of the screen.  It takes users directly to the web page with an eBook contact phone number, text messaging number, and a live chat option.  For phone eBook support call 303-791-7323.
