2016 Douglas County slash/mulch program

Information and photo provided by Douglas County

Spring is here and it is time to clean up the yard, get the garden area ready for plants, and trim some of the trees and bushes.  Luckily you can haul your tree limbs, branches and a few other items to Douglas County slash/mulch sites.  Be sure to check which items can be dropped off at each site.

The Castle Rock site located at 1400 Caprice Drive will be open May through October 29 on Saturdays only from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Acceptable items at the Castle Rock site include tree limbs, branches, shrubs, and brush with a maximum length of six feet and a maximum diameter of 12 inches.  Loose pines needles can be unloaded in a separate designated area and must be separated from branches.  The needles to be dumped cannot contain limbs, pine cones, weeds, grass, or trash.  Residents can dump pine needles from large bags but are responsible for taking the bags home.  Please remember that all loads must be covered when they arrive at the site.

Free wood chips are available to homeowners for use as mulch at the Castle Rock site.  A county equipment operator will be on-site to load the wood chips during the hours the site is open.

The Trumbull/Swayback site, located at 7828 S Highway 67 (2.5 miles north of Deckers), is open on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. year-round and only accepts tree limbs, branches, and brush slash.  The site does not offer mulch.

In case of inclement weather, call 303-663-6274 to ensure that the sites will be open as scheduled.
