Wellspring Community’s (Wellspring) staff, family members, business partners and friends gathered at Cielo at Castle Pines for the nonprofit’s 8th annual “Evening of Inspiration.”   Wellspring is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving young adults with special needs.

Staff and family members spoke about the program’s growth and success during the past year, and Wellspring CEO/founder Mary Lou Fenton gave an overview of future plans, which include the need for their own building and homes to begin their residential program.

The Wellspring Choir, led by choir director and Castle Pines Connection staff member Cindy Kessinger, performed “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and “What the World Needs Now is Love.”

The event included live music, a buffet dinner, a musical sign language demonstration, and dance and choir performances by Wellspring’s participants.  Many of Wellspring’s participant-made woodworking/ceramic crafts and baked goods were available for sale.  This year’s event raised approximately $200,000.  Fenton said, “We are grateful for the incredible generosity of our local community as they join us in the work of giving full lives to adults with special needs and hope for the future for their parents.”

Wellspring’s participants enjoy a wide variety of activities including exercise, social gatherings/outings, dance, choir, drama, gardening, ceramics, woodworking, and working at the Best Buddies Bakery and Café, located in The Emporium in downtown Castle Rock.  The Colorado Agricultural Leadership Foundation partners with Wellspring by training their participants to give tours of Lowell Ranch to elementary and middle school children, and the Lone Tree Arts Center partners with Wellspring by training participants to usher for its “sensory-friendly” events.  Wellspring is located at 826 Park Street, #200, in Castle Rock.  For more information about Wellspring, call 303-660-1935 or visit www.wearewellspring.org
